Samarkand is a beloved neighborhood in an area known by locals as "uptown." Adjacent to downtown but with a residential vibe, the streets twist and turn with classic homes steeped in charm. When the time comes for a more refined gathering in the formal dining room, the corner cabinets are home to collectible china and fine linens, making each meal memorable. 

And, of course, a great meal begins in the kitchen! The remodeled, sun-soaked galley creates ease and flow between the dining room and the back patio. With cabinetry packed with culinary tools, appliances, and cookbooks, the perfect meal is almost complete, so as the saying says above the sink, "All you need is love!"

Occupying the entire second floor, the primary suite with a luxurious California king bed is a haven for privacy. Large armchairs in a sitting area offer the ideal spot to snuggle in and read up on all there is to do in Santa Barbara. Working on writing the next best seller? Find inspiration while seated at the large desk in front of a picture window with garden and mountain views. The attached bathroom's rain-soaking shower head in the glass shower will wash away any cares of the day that may have crept in; vacations are no place for stress, so let that go! If a hot tub or outdoor shower is more to one's liking, both are outside off the back deck.

Downstairs two bedrooms each offer queen-size beds, one of which also provides a television. The hall bathroom is fresh and modern, with a generous glass shower. Working from home has become part of mainstream life, so settle into the office as needed and get it done; French doors open to the back deck when it is time for the taskmaster to take a break. 

Outside on the deck, offerings include a gas fire pit, a high-top dining table, and seating. A pizza oven is also a fan favorite, so stock up on tasty toppings and ready-made dough from Trader Joe's, just down the street!  With a dramatic "speak-easy" ambiance, the garage conversion includes a fun spot for happy hour, ready to inspire the mixmaster in the group. Welcome to "Dev's Bar" with mood lighting, bartender tools, glassware, red leather high back chairs, television, and a party personality! There is also a laundry room and a pair of lounge chairs atop the artificial turf lawn surrounded by tropical gardens, and driveway parking for two cars.

It is easy to walk the neighborhood and arrive at great "uptown" restaurants like Brass Bear (they welcome four-legged friends!), Via Maestra 42 for authentic Italian, or grab a latte at Starbucks. Arroyo Burro Beach (known by locals as "Hendry's" Beach ) is a must for sunset strolls or oceanside brunches at Boathouse Restaurant right on the beach! No matter the activity, La Hacienda provides an ideal "home away from home" feel with a location for enjoying all there is to see and do on the central coast. Inside and out, there are so many wonderful areas to enjoy around the property, it will be hard to choose a favorite!
