Sitting on the sand of Miramar Beach, this quirky two level home is ideal for the vacationer who wants to relax and have fun on the beach. As you enter the main level of the Whimsical Wave, the large picturesque window with ocean views will immediately grab your attention. Not your average vacation rental, this home boasts interesting architectural features such as the high beam ceilings, warm wood paneling, a spiral staircase, and many interesting nooks and curves.
On the main level, the guests will enjoy a living space with breathtaking views and plenty of funky details that give the Whimsical Wave its' charm. The living room is complete with a new leather couch that pulls out into a queen sofa sleeper, as well as a flat screen TV, two swivel chairs, a fireplace, and a secondary couch near the alcove. The new configuration (not pictured) is ideal for relaxing and cozying up while enjoying the stunning views only a beachfront home can offer.
The lower level also boasts amazing views and a larger balcony with a table for four and a barbeque for outdoor cooking. This level also has a full kitchen, a living room with a fireplace and one bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom features a queen size bed and a flat screen television. Attached to the bedroom is the master bathroom with a full shower. Please note that all spaces are designed with an open concept for a spacious feel, so instead of a solid bedroom door, the home features a privacy screen to separate the bedroom from the living room. Additional sleeping space is available in the living room with the sofa sleeper couch.

Excellent
I've stayed on Miramar many times over the years and it's my favorite place on earth. I've stayed at the Whimsical Wave last year and again this year and it's the most unique and beautiful home on this beach. I have a yacht in Santa Barbara harbor that I can stay on any time I come to town but this home will keep drawing me back again and again. I'll be back again to stay here soon. It's the most peaceful and beautiful place there is. I'd stay here for the rest of my life if I could.

The location is unbelievable!
My wife and I had such a great time staying here! The location is unbelievable. Sitting on the deck and watching the waves was such an enjoyable experience, we didn't want to leave! Communication with the host throughout our stay was great as well. We can't wait to return!

A Relaxing Stay
It was our second time staying at the Hobbit House and even though the weather was not sunny, we really enjoyed our time. Always relaxing and peaceful being so close to the water. We can’t wait to go back again!

Funky & Very Cool!
This property is unique in that its not traditionally pretty but the intricate workmanship touches of this little beachfront jewel is so unique. My family of four stayed at this property and absolutely loved it! My main concern was that there may not be enough comfortable sleeping accommodations since there's only one queen size bed but there's a pull out couch bed and 2 other comfortable couches to sleep on. We marveled at how cool it is that it's not like any other house on the private accessed beach of Miramar Beach. The Hobbit House is fully stocked with anything we needed, be it in the kitchen or even to use the binoculars to look out every morning while enjoying my coffee. It's Very Clean, safe and fully-equipped with beach supplies. We loved it and think you will too!

Location could not be better!
The Hobbit House was a cute, cozy, well-maintained beach house that lived up to all our expectations. The description and photos were very accurate although the photos could not capture all of the cute details (e.g. innovative lighting, very relaxing Japanese tub, cute stone floors/walls in bathrooms, comfortable furniture, ideal outdoor arrangements: top floor sunnier during the day, bottom floor shaded) and how well maintained it was. Enough room for a family of four to easily spread out although not a lot of privacy (this was accurately spelled out in the description though.) Will definitely want to return!

Hobbit House Honeymoon
The location of the Hobbit House was most enjoyable! We loved being right on the beach, hearing the waves crash, watching the dolphins swim by, the pelicans fly by, and taking walks. We appreciated the unique architecture and creative design of the house.There are many excellent dining options near by which we enjoyed. We were happy that we choose the Hobbit House for our Honeymoon and plan on staying there again!

Incredible!
This place is incredible. Everything you could possibly look for in your own home this place has ready for you to us, and not just there but basically brand new. We have used our work and personal Airbnb accounts over the years many times. This is by far the best place we have ever stayed. Planned our next trip to stay there while driving back from our visit. This is a must stay place!

Hobbit House - a wonderful 21st birthday weekend!
Our stay in the Hobbit House on Miramar Beach in Montecito this past weekend was absolutely fantastic! The getaway was for our daughter, who absolutely loves being on the ocean and needed a bit of de-stressing from her college quarter for her 21st birthday. The location simply cannot be beaten, and the Hobbit House itself is a whimsical and fun piece of architecture and art combined in a single structure that only added to the enjoyment of our fantasy-loving daughter. A few days of fun and relaxation on the sand and sleeping to the sound of ocean waves right outside the doors turned out to be a great break for all of us. Because it's so unique, there were a couple of people who lingered a bit to look at and take photos of the house, but that only added to the joy of knowing we were staying at the coolest house on a very cool beach!
Two very minor detractions: water pressure for the sinks was a bit touchy at both the low and high ends, resulting in a few more splashes than expected; and there are no interior doors, meaning both bathrooms had very thin barriers (one had a swinging screen made of thin bamboo, and the other simply a curtain to pull across the entryway). We loved the open feel of the interior otherwise, but still would have liked real doors for the bathrooms...

Hobbit House Haven
My family of 4 stayed for one week at this charming home. My two teenage daughters shared the bedroom, while my husband and I slept upstairs. We were all very comfortable in the house. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We walked the beach every day and found loads of sea glass! It was so nice to hear the ocean all night- sometimes it was so loud we had to close the door a bit! The fireplace heated up the chilly nights without it being too stuffy and it was so nice to have the ocean breezes. There are so many details to the house and it's so charming and well thought out. I loved the craftsmanship of the home and it was a very relaxing space and just what my family needed for the week.

My family and I stayed at the Hobbit House in Santa Barbara between Christmas and New Years and had a wonderful time. The Hobbit House is appropriately named! It was clean, stocked with everything we needed – paddle board, surfboards, barbecue, plenty of blankets and towels, we only needed to bring groceries. It's small for a family of four and slightly funky but is absolutely perfect! Right on the beach, nice deck, full kitchen and fireplace. The nice surprise was the Japanese soaking tub. We loved it and can't wait to go back.

the only complaint was we could not get either TV to work,
so sadly we simply had to watch the ocean, and enjoy the sunsets!!
( and we had no menfolk with us--so did not really matter!!!)

Amazing beach cottage!
This is the first time I have ever written a review. This beach cottage was so fantastic that it deserves a review! My husband and I stayed for four nights for our anniversary. It was the perfect place to get away and unwind. My husband builds homes for a living, and he was constantly intrigued with the unique architecture of this hobbit house. There was something different about every beam, corner, cabinet - it was unlike any place we have ever stayed! The beach was breathtaking, pristine, quiet and peaceful. It was perfect for paddle boarding and fishing, or just relaxing on the sand. We rode our bikes to montecito and santa barbara for several great meals and shopping. The location of the house could not have been better. Thank you for such a fabulous vacation! We can't wait to go back!
