The Blue Door Retreat is a three story, 2 bed/ 2 bath home located conveniently near downtown Santa Barbara. Enter the gated, semi-private courtyard and be greeted with lush greenery and a peaceful fountain. Once inside the Blue Door Retreat, you are greeted with a vibrant parlor, complete with comfortable seating, desk, and wine fridge. Tucked behind the dividing wall is the first bedroom, outfitted with a California King and plenty of storage space. The first bathroom is on this level as well as a private outdoor patio featuring a seating area and built-in BBQ!
Up the Spanish-style stairs takes you to the second floor, the main entertainment space of the home. The expansive kitchen lives on this level, as well as the living and dining areas. The kitchen is well-equipped, sure to delight even the most discerning chef. The open floor concept makes entertaining a breeze in this sun-drenched space.
On the third floor is the laundry room and master bedroom/ bathroom. The master bedroom has two patios, the main of which perches over Cota Street and offers retractable shade and comfortable outdoor lounge chairs. The second features wonderful mountain views!
Just blocks from downtown, the home also boasts of a private garage and gated guest parking for you to leave your car at home on the days you want to stroll through Santa Barbara’s most iconic scenes. Amazing location and extremely well stocked!
Amazing location and extremely well stocked. We stayed 2 months and felt we had everything we could need at our fingertips. The location has plenty of space for additional guests and the 3 floor division made it easy for everyone to have their own space. Great shared outdoor area as well!

Great Stay in an Architectural Gem
The studio designed by the famous Santa Barbara architect Jeff Shelton is extraordinary. It is excitingly beautiful, both from the outside and the inside. The studio is spacious with high ceiling rooms located over three floors – be prepared to walk the stairs! It is very well equipped. We did not miss anything neither in the rooms nor in the kitchen. The unit has its own garage. The location is perfect – just two blocks from State Street and some 15-minute walk from the Ocean. The neighborhood, where the studios are located, is quiet at night but becomes quite busy in the morning. But this what you expect living downtown. The neighbors at the are nice and friendly – we got invited to a Christmas party on our second day of the stay. The staff from Vacation Rentals of Santa Barbara is professional and responding. Especially we would like to thank the property manager Linda for taking good care of the property and us.

The Location is Amazing!
Cannot beat the beauty, charm and details of this property, and Santa Barbara as a whole! We walked daily to state street, hardly used our car our entire stay!! We would highly recommend staying here, and the rental company was easy to deal with and available via text for any issues. Thank you, we would definitely stay again. We travelled w/ 2 school age children, and they enjoyed the space, and had lots of fun walking to the main shops, restaurants, and icecream nearby. CHECK OUT Tondi Gelato nearby, best italian icecream in California!

Fun way to live in SB!
This home has everything you need and nothing extra. It was impeccably clean, had all of the kitchen implements we could want, including a burr grinder for coffee and everything needed to bake cookies or make a margarita, including a great juicer. The beds were comfortable, the location was unbeatable, and the space a delight to live in and from which to enjoy myriad views of the courtyard and sky. Living in a Jeff Shelton-designed building was fun, as was living two blocks off of State Street. The locked garage made parking and storing bikes and surfboards easy. One note, the downstairs bedroom does not have full walls, so the sounds from the second floor do travel downstairs and vice versa, but with the door on the third-floor bedroom, privacy at night was no problem. This home is light-filled and coming and going through the beautiful courtyards was always a delight. Centrally located with a 15-minute walk to the beach or a five-minute walk to State Street, and Dune Coffee and the Saturday Farmer's market a block away, this was a fun way to live in Santa Barbara.

This location is primo!
“This location is primo! You're blocks from great coffee shops, amazing restaurants, plenty of local breweries and wine tasting, and of course the bike path along the ocean. The space is very comfortable for even 4 people to WFH as there are 3 floors and two outdoor spaces. The house seemed to have everything we needed (coffee grinder, beach umbrella and towels, second table that we used as a desk) and some delightful extras (like great mattresses, strong water pressure, and fun courtyard lights). The Vacation Rentals of Santa Barbara team was friendly and communicative. We would love to come back and stay again!”

Unique. Beautiful.
Wish we could’ve stayed longer! Blue door is an artistic, architectural treat. Great beds. Great linens. Everything you need in the kitchen. Convenient garage parking. Beautiful upper patio space.The whole complex is beautiful. Vacation Rentals of Santa Barbara is professional and easy to work with. Hope to stay here again.
