In 2023, people watched over 30 billion hours of shopping related videos on YouTube, according to the company. Now the video platform is looking to extend its reach into the world of commerce even further through an expansion of its partnership with Shopify.
Eligible Shopify Plus and Shopify Advanced merchants in the U.S. can now easily sign up for YouTube Shopping’s affiliate program through the “Google & YouTube” app on Shopify, enabling thousands of eligible creators to showcase those merchants’ products in their videos. Merchants will be able to manage their affiliate program and view analytics, content and products tagged in the Google Merchant Center.
On the flip side, the expanded partnership also means that YouTube creators will now have access to thousands of new brands that they can tag in their shopping content. Among the brands already on board are BK Beauty, Popflex and HexClad.
The expanded partnership with Shopify follows a number of other enhancements YouTube has made to its shopping integrations in recent months, including making it easier for viewers to find new products and making it easier for creators to tag products in their content.

Additionally, Google announced today that it is releasing a new Chrome extension for U.S. creators participating in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program. The extension will allow them to save products while browsing a brand or retailer’s site, making it easier to find products when they’re ready to tag items in their videos later. The extension also will allow creators to see how much they would earn from tagging a product in their YouTube videos without having to leave the brand’s site.
