In only its second full year as a public company, Warby Parker generated net revenue of $71.7 million in 2023, 12% higher than the $669.8 million generated in 2022. Additionally, the eyewear retailer increased average revenue per customer 9.3% in 2023, to $287, and boosted its number of active customers 2.5%, to 2.33 million.
Warby Parker, which began life as a pure-play DTC retailer, opened 40 stores in 2023 for a total of 237 and plans to open another 40 stores this year. In February 2024, the retailer also expanded its relationship with MetLife subsidiary Versant Health, a leading administrator of managed vision care. This expansion will bring an additional 15 million people in-network with Warby Parker for a total of more than 34 million.
“Looking to 2024, we’re excited to meet millions of customers where and how they want to shop as we expand our retail presence, deploy disciplined marketing spend to support growth across our omnichannel experiences, and nearly double the number of insured lives who can use their in-network vision benefits with Warby Parker,” said Dave Gilboa, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Warby Parker in a statement.
