Oracle and Uber have announced the launch of Collect and Receive, a new offering within the Oracle Retail platform designed to enrich retailers’ last mile delivery experiences while reducing operational costs.

The joint solution is supported by the Oracle Retail Data Store and cloud platform technologies, allowing retailers to use pre-integrated APIs to link to Uber Direct, the company’s white-label delivery solution. Retailers can leverage the Oracle Retail Data Store Cloud Service with Oracle Retail Store Inventory Operations Cloud ServiceOracle Retail Xstore Point of Service or Oracle Retail Order Management Suite Cloud Services to activate Uber Direct, rebalance their inventory and expand their last mile offerings to include same-day and scheduled delivery, order pickup and returns to the closest retail or postal location.

All transaction data is captured and transferred back into the Oracle retail cloud platform, so retailers can analyze buying behaviors and preferences to refine and improve services moving forward. Oracle Retail customers in the U.S. and Canada can now access the solution at no additional charge.

This is the latest initiative in Oracle and Uber’s seven-year strategic cloud partnership and it will not only help retailers keep pace with consumer demand for on-demand delivery and returns but also streamline omnichannel customer experiences.

“Connecting the two platforms eliminates the gap between a sales transaction and customer service, and at the same time provides invaluable data to better serve the customer on their next experience and improve overall retail profitability,” said Pat Bohannon, VP at Oracle Retail in a statement. “Together, we can improve the experiences and profitability of the retail industry by raising the bar to a new ‘premium delivery’ standard where the customer can determine where and when their delivery or return will occur. Combining Uber’s ability to schedule deliveries in advance or on short notice is far superior to traditional last mile delivery.”
