Ingka Group, parent company of Ikea Retail, has debuted an AI-powered home design inspiration and shopping tool on the OpenAI GPT Store. Consumers can use ChatGPT to describe their specific home design needs and receive customized recommendations, for example, “Show me a cozy living room layout for a small apartment with the use of sustainable materials.”
The Ikea AI Assistant also lets shoppers explore the retailer’s catalog and check for item availability across different Ikea locations, as well as get inspiration from real-life home transformation stories within the Ikea global community and tips from furnishings experts.
“The new Ikea AI Assistant on GPT Stores is an ongoing initiative and the continuation of a journey that looks to enrich the retail experience and explore additional avenues to interact with our customers and coworkers as they help us improve and develop further,” said Parag Parekh, Global Chief Digital Officer for Ikea Retail in a statement.
The Ikea Assistant is currently available for GPT Plus users in the U.S. only, but Ikea plans to expand to more markets where ChatGPT is available during 2024.
