Heritage luxury department store Bloomingdale’s is staking a claim in the resale market by partnering with luxury resale platform Rebag.
The companies have collaborated on a “meticulously curated selection” of more than 3,000 pre-loved designer handbags, watches and fine jewelry. While more than 2,500 of these items will be for sale on Bloomingdales.com, the remaining goods will be featured (and for sale) in five Bloomingdale’s stores nationwide. Although the online experience is officially live, the dedicated Rebag spaces in stores will be unveiled in the near future.
With this partnership, Bloomingdale’s customers can seamlessly buy luxury items both in-store and online, bridging a gap between the new and pre-owned luxury markets.
“We are delighted to partner with Rebag, an established leader in the luxury resale space, to meet customer needs with this curated addition to our assortment,” said Jennifer Jones, SVP and General Merchandise Manager Center Core – Women’s Accessories at Bloomingdale’s in a statement. “The strategic partnership brings a new set of ultra-luxury brands to Bloomingdale’s, while providing access to the finest pre-owned luxury items, enabling a full circular experience.”
Bringing Luxury Resale to Stores
Bloomingdale’s stores featuring the new curated collection will have dedicated shop-in-shops featuring Rebag’s brand aesthetics. These branded spaces will be strategically positioned on the accessories floors of stores at New Jersey’s Mall at Short Hills; in White Plains, N.Y.; at Town Center at Boca Raton, Fla.; Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks, Calif. and Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego.
Each shop-in-shop will feature a curated selection of pre-owned luxury items available for purchase. Additionally, Bloomingdale’s customers will be able to sell select items within the experience. Associates will be able to make offers for products using Rebag’s proprietary AI tool, CLAIR. Rebag also will partner with Bloomingdale’s store management and staff to ensure the Rebag buying and selling experience is seamlessly integrated into the Bloomingdale’s customer journey.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Bloomingdale’s, a name synonymous with luxury and quality,” said Charles Gorra, CEO and Founder of Rebag in a statement. “This partnership epitomizes our vision of the complementary relationship between first-hand and second-hand luxury. By bringing Rebag’s expertise in sourcing and vetting luxury goods to Bloomingdale’s discerning clientele, we are setting a new standard in the luxury retail experience.”
