Amazon has announced plans to host a Big Spring Sale in North America from March 20-25 that will feature product discounts available to all customers — not just Prime members as its summer and fall sales events typically do. Prime members will, however, receive access to exclusive deals throughout the event.

The sale will kick off on March 20, with new deals dropping each day of the six-day event. Discounts will focus on seasonal items like spring fashion, fitness products, outdoor furniture, cleaning and yardwork essentials as well as Amazon devices.

The sales event appears in part to be a membership push for Amazon, which is facing increased competition from the likes of Walmart and Target, both of which now offer paid membership programs.

Amazon set the standard for membership sales events with the launch of its Prime Day summer sale in 2015. That was eventually followed by a second sale for Prime members in the fall that has now become the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season. Competing retailers regularly release their own deals and discounts during Amazon’s sales events in an effort to capitalize on the halo effect that these sales have traditionally created. Prime Day 2023, which took place in July, saw the biggest day of sales ever in the company’s history.
