Academy Sports + Outdoors will open up to 17 new stores during its 2024 fiscal year, which began Feb. 4, 2024. The first two stores are in the Raleigh suburb of Knightdale, N.C., which opened on March 22, and the Indianapolis-area Greenwood, Ind., slated to open April 12. The retailer currently operates 283 stores across 18 states.
“Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to provide our customers with new convenient stores that carry a localized assortment that meets the needs of active families in these communities,” said Eric Friederich, SVP of Retail Operations at Academy Sports in a statement.
The retailer carries apparel, footwear, sports and camping equipment from brand names including Nike, Carhartt and L.L.Bean, as well as private label brands such as Magellan Outdoors, Freely, H2OX and Mosaic.
